Medicare Birthday Clinics are offered by two of Maine's Area Agencies on Aging. You'll find a presentation that is used to provide basic info to participants. The speaker then opens it up for questions and ends with scheduling one-on-one appointments, if necessary. Also included is a flyer that is provided to SSA and newspapers, as well as a general write-up for newsletters and postings.

In CT we have been tapping our partnership resources to create and distribute a number of "Rack Cards" on various issues. We print them out on different colored cardstock and distribute them at outreach events and educational presentations. Our newest ones were developed with the CT Dept. of Consumer Protection and the CT Consumer Law Project for Elders -- Actions you Can Take to Protect Personal Information and Guidelines for Shredding and Saving Personal Documents.

We created this brochure to use with one of our most successful outreach initiatives - the neck wallet. We stuff the brochure into the front of the neck wallet. We also have wrist whistles we distribute. We only distribute them when we do our PowerPoint educational presentations that we periodically update. It combines personal protection tips with Medicare protection tips (including MSN information). This has been a great way to partner with our Triads.

Vermont SMP has formed a partnership with Lyric Theatre to direct regional teams of Volunteer Savvy Senior Performers to educate people about Health care error, fraud and abuse, Identity Theft, dealing with salespersons, drug diversion, etc. The skits are witty and acted out by teams of 4 - 6 performers. Audiences really enjoy these presentations of 30 - 60 minutes. The production also has a Moderator who conveys important information between each skit. Vermont SMP also provides a Savvy Senior DVD to partners who will share the presentation for their constituency and then survey for our reporting purposes.
