Media Center
We welcome contacts from the media and others in assisting us
in this national effort to prevent, detect, and report health care
fraud.
About Health Care Fraud
Health care waste, fraud and abuse are critical
issues. The National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association estimates that
more than $60 billion each year is lost to fraud. Click
here for more information.
SMP
programs, also known as Senior Medicare Patrol programs,
educate beneficiaries and community members on ways to prevent, detect,
and report health care fraud. To talk with an SMP in your area about
current health care fraud trends and local prevention efforts, use
the SMP
Locator on this website. If you are most interested in SMP efforts
at the national level, the SMP
Resource Center staff can help point you in the right
direction. The Center serves as a bridge to facilitate the sharing
of information, expertise and experience between and among the SMPs. It
also provides general information for consumers on health care errors,
fraud and abuse.
