Scams and Fraud Alerts
Tips
- Although it may be legal to sell supplemental insurance plans for
Original Medicare door-to-door, it’s certainly illegal for
salesmen to say they are government officials.
- Uncle Sam does not make house calls to sell health insurance. If
someone comes to your home claiming to be from the government with an
insurance offer, shut the door.
- Buying a supplemental insurance plan can be wise for Original
Medicare recipients, but before you sign up, you need to do some
homework.
- Check with your health care provider/s before making insurance
changes. You need to know what plans they work with to avoid excess
out-of-pocket costs.
