Mentor ProgramAre you a new SMP director or coordinator? Here at the SMP Resource Center (also known as The Center), we have learned from veteran SMP staff that orientation to the SMP program can be a bit overwhelming. Because the SMP program's national-level success is measured by the aggregate outcomes of all of the projects, your individual program success is important to everyone. The Center’s Mentor Program orients new SMP project directors to key SMP practices and procedures that are necessary for successfully operating an SMP program. It also introduces new SMP project directors to the support services offered by the SMP Resource Center. If you are new to your position, contact the SMP Resource Center to begin your orientation. Are you a veteran SMP director or coordinator?Even if you are, the experiences, successes and lessons learned that are shared through the monthly Mentor Program conference calls can invigorate your SMP program and prevent you from having to reinvent the wheel. It is also a way that you can mentor new SMP directors and coordinators to help them be successful. Mentor Program Conference CallsWhether you are a new SMP director/coordinator or a veteran, one of the most popular resources offered by the SMP Resource Center is the monthly Mentor Program conference calls. They provide an opportunity to network and share news of the latest scams occurring in each state. They are held the second Tuesday of every month at 11:30 a.m. ET and 3:00 p.m. ET. Access instructions are e-mailed to SMP project directors. For more information, contact Carol Dahms at 1-877-808-2468. SMP 101The SMP 101 page gives links to key resources for both novice and experienced SMPs, such as information on working with the AoA, SMART FACTS, OIG Reports, training and the SMP Resource Manual. Links on the Center Products page include SMP logos, fact sheets, newsletters, manuals and Personal Health Care Journals. Questions? The SMP Resource Center is here to serve rookie and veteran SMP
staff. If we don't have the answer, we can usually find it. Or we can
connect you with an SMP veteran director or coordinator whose area of
expertise meets your need. For a profile of the SMP Resource Center
staff and their areas of expertise, click
here or call 1-877-808-2468.
