Retention and Recognition

Retaining volunteers involves effective supervision, support, and recognition. It is important for managers of volunteer programs to identify the kinds of recognition that will motivate individual volunteers and meaningfully convey your appreciation. It may also be helpful to establish a recognition plan.

This Guide to Volunteer Retention contains two articles by Steve McCurley that describe the 5 basic rules for retaining volunteers and how to match recognition strategies to different types of volunteers.
