The Center hosted a
two-part webinar series titled:
"Promoting Medicare Fraud
Prevention Among Ethnic Populations Through Graphic
Design"
Abstract: This two-part
webinar series discussed the use of culturally and ethically
specific graphic design to inform minority, immigrant and refuges
populations about Medicare fraud. In addition, it provided a critique of
Medicare fraud materials already translated into languages other than
English.
Presenters: The
presentations included research and findings conducted by Dr.
Michele Yehieli and Dr. Mark Grey of Project EXPORT Center of Excellence
on Health Disparities.
Part I: (January
30, 2007 - 2pm ET) Provided an overview of the link between graphic
design and ethnic groups and provide specific examples of graphic design
for non-Latino ethnic groups.
Part II: (February
6, 2007 - 2pm ET) Address the use of graphic design for
Latino/Hispanic populations, critique existing Medicare fraud materials
in languages other than English, and provide some examples of how SMPs
can create their own graphic designs using common software
programs.
