ACL Reorganizes

ACL Reorganizes

October 21, 2014

As you may have read in the Federal Register or in media coverage of the announcement last week, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) has made some changes to its organizational structure. There is a new Center for Consumer Access and Self-Determination at ACL, under which is the Office of Healthcare Information and Counseling. The Office of Healthcare Information and Counseling now oversees The Senior Medicare Patrols (SMP), State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP), and Medicare Improvements for Patients and Provider Act (MIPPA) programs, bringing together under this new office three programs with a common focus on Medicare beneficiary education and outreach. All three programs - SMP, SHIP, and MIPPA - will retain their separate and unique identities, however, and are not being combined. For more information from ACL, click here.
