Starting in April 2018, Medicare will no longer use a Social Security number as a person's identifier. Instead, Medicare numbers will be random digits and letters. Fraudsters are calling Medicare recipients to tell them falsely they'll need to pay for their new Medicare card, one that won't have their Social Security number on the front.
