Employee Stops Gift Card Scam

A resident received a phone call from a person who said that the resident’s Social Security number had been hacked. To rectify the problem, they were told to purchase $3,000 in gift cards. They did so. Then they were told to purchase another $3,000 in gift cards from a different store, where an employee knew it was a scam and advised them to call the police.
